Join us for a Gather & Grow tour at a residential garden in Lewiston, Maine! In this year’s Gather & Grow series, garden tour hosts will share information about their gardening practices in general, and through the lens of climate change adaptation.
About the garden:
David Patrick and his family garden together in their backyard. With raised beds that grow annual fruits, veggies, and flowers, as well as and perennial plantings of fruit trees, fruit shrubs, and grape vines: there is a bounty growing at this urban garden. Between the different raised beds and perennial plantings, the garden features multiple systems. The gardens are supported by a variety of inputs for the soil — from their chickens’ bedding and manure, to ash from their neighbor’s woodstove, to comfrey plantings. And among their many raised beds, each of the two kids in the family have one that they plant and tend themselves. Learn about the different elements at play in this garden, from our hosts, David and the kids.
Registration info: Tours in the Gather & Grow Series are kept free, with support from participant donations; and this year, with support from the Davis Conservation Foundation. Pre-registration is required, as space is limited. Tour details will be shared via email ahead of the event date.
