400;\">The Maine Organic Farmers and Gardeners Association (MOFGA) is pleased to announce this grant opportunity to help farmers, processors and food entrepreneurs access technical assistance for their business. Farms, processors and food businesses in Maine are eligible <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">except <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">those in York, Cumberland, Sagadahoc and Lincoln Counties, as they are not considered to be part of the Northern Border Region covered by our current funding source.\u00a0<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">2.) Applicants must be one of the following:<\/span><\/p><ul><li style=\"list-style-type: none;\"><ul><li style=\"list-style-type: none;\"><ul><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Certified organic business<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Organic under the small farm exemption<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Alumni of past MOFGA farm training program (i.e., Farm Beginnings, Maine Farm Resilience Program, Apprenticeship or Journeyperson program)<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Able to show that business is actively transitioning to certified organic production or processing<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Food business or processor who utilizes organic and\/or local sustainably grown ingredients<\/span><\/li><\/ul><\/li><\/ul><\/li><\/ul><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">3.) Previous recipients of MOFGA\u2019s TA Grant are not eligible to apply for another TA Grant at this time.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">4.) Awardees should be prepared to answer the following questions at the open and close of their project:<\/span><\/p><ol><li style=\"list-style-type: none;\"><ul><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">What was your net operating income for 2021 and for 2022 (i.e., your profit or loss from operations \u2014 does not include the sale of capital assets)?<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">What was your net worth on December 31, 2021?<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">What was your payroll for 2021 and for 2022?<\/span><\/li><\/ul><\/li><\/ol><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We will assist you with these reports, which will be shared in aggregate with the Northern Border Regional Commission to help them track their economic impact.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-dce6498 elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"dce6498\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h4 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\"><b> Available Funds <b><\/h4>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-aa35585 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"aa35585\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Individual grants will range from $1,000 to $2,000 and are capped at $2,000 per applicant. MOFGA will award up to $8,000 during this grant round. <\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-6fca46e elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"6fca46e\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h4 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\"><b> Allowable Costs <b><\/h4>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-fc1a27d elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"fc1a27d\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Funding can be used to <\/span><b>pay for professional technical assistance<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> that addresses such needs as business planning, enterprise assessment, marketing, legal fees, production analysis \u2014 or a myriad of other technical assistance needs \u2014 often to address a significant point in a business&#8217; evolution. Examples of past uses of TA Grant funds include enterprise budgeting, setting up a QuickBooks chart of accounts, designing linked inventory tracking spreadsheets, branding and logo development, website or social media development, legal services for business restructuring and succession planning, new product testing and development, and market research.
