Join us for our first Gather & Grow tour of the season: taking place at a residential garden featuring three different composting practices\u00a0in Sidney, Maine!\u00a0In this year’s Gather & Grow series, garden tour hosts will share information about their gardening practices in general, and through the lens of climate change adaptation.<\/p>

About the gardens:<\/strong><\/p>

Tom Vigue and Eileen Fingerman have been growing on their plot of land — dubbed “Kiwi Hill Farm,” after the first fruit they planted there —\u00a0since the early 1990’s. Their vegetable gardens span about 1\/4 acre and consist of 21 different beds, which are managed on a 7-year crop rotation plan and with low-till practices. They have also cultivated many perennial plants, including a home\u00a0orchard, which features\u00a0various fruit trees, vines, and shrubs. Composting has been key\u00a0to their approach to sustainable and successful\u00a0gardening. Tom manages three different composting systems: vermicompost bins, larger compost piles, and leaf mold piles.
